Pitfall 1: Failing to think ahead
Solution: PLAN YOUR PROGRAM
To graduate in the shortest possible time, take courses already
approved for transfer credit by the receiving institution.
Pitfall 2: Taking the wrong courses
Solution: MAKE INFORMED DECISIONS
The course you want to transfer must be comparable to one in the
university catalog in content, level of subject matter, number of
credits carried, and standards of students performance. Don’t expect
credit for only partial fulfillment of a sequential course.
Pitfall 3: Taking vocational/technical courses & expecting them
to transfer
Solution: GET A LIBERAL EDUCATION
The four-year institution has the last word about course credit and
few accept vocational/technical credit courses.
Pitfall 4: Changing Majors
Solution: DIVERSIFY YOUR CURRICULUM
Get general education requirements completed first.
Pitfall 5: Being Told, "Sorry that is not our policy"

calendars and deadlines.
Pitfall 6: Trying to avoid math or writing courses
