In
1977, the year after President Kerr took office the new
central air conditioning Chiller Plant was completed and
most buildings on campus hooked up to the new system.
During the 1977-1978 school year, President Kerr held the
first discussions and had preliminary plans prepared for the
Dixie Center. He dreamed the dream of an educational,
cultural and recreational facility to be built through the
joint efforts of Dixie College, Washington County and the
State of Utah: a dream that 10 years later, in 1987, became
a reality.
