In 1977, the year after President Kerr took office the new central air conditioning Chiller Plant was completed and most buildings on campus hooked up to the new system.

 During the 1977-1978 school year, President Kerr held the first discussions and had preliminary plans prepared for the Dixie Center. He dreamed the dream of an educa­tional, cultural and recreational facility to be built through the joint efforts of Dixie College, Washington County and the State of Utah: a dream that 10 years later, in 1987, became a reality.
