Talent Search (ETS) is a federally funded program
through the U.S. Department of Education that
provides a wide range of support services to
qualified public school students.
The ETS program identifies and
assists students, many of whom are from disadvantaged
backgrounds, who have the potential to succeed in
post-secondary
education (i.e. college, vocational schools). The program provides academic, career, and
financial counseling to its participants and encourages them
to graduate from high school and continue on to the post
secondary school of their choice. ETS also serves
high school dropouts by encouraging them to reenter school
and complete their education.
The local ETS program is hosted by
Dixie State College of Utah, and is currently
assisting 1200 students in Washington County.
There is an ETS advisor assigned to each middle and
high school in the county. ETS students work
with their respective ETS advisors on projects such
as career exploration and interest assessment,
researching post secondary institutions, searching
for scholarships, and completion of financial aid
forms and admissions applications. ETS is a
very engaging program which offers students many
opportunities to attend helpful workshops,
participate in college and vocational school tours,
and receive individual assistance from their ETS
advisors. |
